Gregor is the money-making machine for his family’s debt and is rarely appreciated for working around the clock. His father is very strict and keeps Gregor on his toes. Gregor’s mom is softer towards Gregor and cares for him. His strongest bond seems to be with his little sister, who is very concerned about Gregor not opening the door and tries to talk to him. In this part Gregor seems generally relaxed with his new form and only worries about his previous life.


Gregor all transformed now cannot provide for the family anymore and his father now has to work. In this chapter Gregor’s father despises him and even openly shows it by violently throwing an apple at Gregor’s shell. Gregor’s sister now plays an important role, by being the only one daring enough to provide for Gregor in his hideous form. His mother also wants to help but is still unsure.In this chapter Gregor seems more and more observant of his family’s activities and is attached and respectful toward his sister.


Gregor’s sister seems to be growing weary of helping out Gregor and it’s more of a burden but the whole family seems to be less scared of Gregor and therefore leave door open so Gregor can observe when appropriate. Gregor now has the realization that no one in his normal life will help him or his family and also becomes more open to his family.
